The data breach at Patelco Credit Union was first detected on June 29, 2024. prompting the credit union to take several critical systems offline, including its online banking platform, mobile app, and call center, resulting in temporary service outages. Patelco, a California-based, not-for-profit credit union, revealed that the attackers gained unauthorized access to their systems on May 23. During the attack, a database containing sensitive personal information was stolen. The compromised data includes names, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers, and email addresses, though the specific details vary for each individual. While Patelco has not officially confirmed the ransomware group responsible for the attack, the RansomHub gang added Patelco to its leak site in mid-August. The group claimed that negotiations had failed and announced it was auctioning the stolen data. RansomHub further alleged that the compromised information includes additional details, such as gender, home addresses, phone numbers, passwords, and credit ratings.
