Sabre, a travel booking giant, said it is investigating hacking claims after a batch of information reportedly stolen from the business emerged on an extortion group's leak website. Sabre is a travel reservation platform and a key producer of air passenger and booking information, with its software and data powering airline and hotel reservations, check-ins, and applications. Numerous airlines and hotel chains in the United States depend on the firm's infrastructure. In a statement on its dark web leak site, the Dunghill Leak group claimed credit for the alleged hack, stating that it seized around 1.3 gigabytes of data, including files on ticket sales and passenger turnover, workers' personal data, and company financial details. As proof, the organization shared a fraction of the purportedly stolen files, stating that the whole cache will be publicly available soon. Furthermore, the provided pictures indicate many database names linked to booking information and billing that include tens of millions of records and in Some of the images shown featured personnel details, such as email addresses and work locations. In addition, employee names, nationalities, passport numbers, and visa numbers were all included in one screenshot. Several more screenshots show various U.S. I-9 forms of employees who are legally permitted to work in the United States. Additionally, some passports identified in the cache are associated with Sabre personnel, including a Sabre vice president. The extent of the hackers' access to the databases remains unclear. While the exact timing of the alleged breach is uncertain, pictures shared by the extortion group suggest that the data is as recent as July 2022. According to security analysts from Malwarebytes, Dunghill Leak is a relatively new ransomware and extortion group that may have originated or remerged from the Dark Angels malware, which itself evolved from the Babuk ransomware.
