Fintech company Revolut experienced a major worldwide service outage that disrupted multiple online banking operations, including app access, mobile banking, fund transfers, card payments, currency exchange, stock trading, and customer support. Revolut confirmed that 28 services were partially unavailable and stated that customers’ funds and personal data remained safe. The company said it was working to restore services and apologized for the inconvenience. According to Reuters, the outage was reportedly linked to disruptions at Google Cloud’s London-based europe-west2 data center following a power event. Revolut had not immediately provided further details about the root cause. Revolut has previously disclosed security incidents, including a data breach involving customer personally identifiable information (PII) shared with a threat actor impersonating a government agency, as well as a September 2022 breach affecting the personal, contact, and financial information of more than 50,000 customers. The company provides banking, money management, and investment services to over 80 million customers across more than 160 countries and regions.
