VMware has released Workstation 25H2 and Fusion 25H2, the latest versions of its desktop hypervisors, introducing enhanced performance, new features, and broader OS compatibility. The update adopts a calendar-based naming format—“25H2” indicating the second half of 2025—replacing sequential numbering to simplify version tracking and align updates across VMware’s product line. Both products deliver improvements in automation, usability, and hardware support. The new `dictTool` utility enables inspection and editing of `.vmx` configuration files for advanced customization and scripting. USB 3.2 support boosts data transfer speeds and ensures compatibility with modern peripherals, while Hardware Version 22 unlocks better virtual machine performance. Workstation 25H2 also adds Hyper-V/WHP detection, helping users identify VM running modes on Windows hosts. The release expands support for Intel’s Lunar Lake, Arrow Lake, and Meteor Lake processors, along with new guest and host OS compatibility, including RHEL 10, Fedora 42, openSUSE Leap 16.0 (RC), SUSE Linux 16 (Beta), Debian 13, Oracle Linux 10, VMware ESXi 9.0, and macOS Tahoe (Intel-only for Fusion). VMware has also integrated security and stability updates, addressing vulnerabilities and fixing key issues such as Windows UI resizing glitches, Linux full-screen crashes, Intel GPU 3D acceleration errors, and USB configuration persistence in Fusion. Available in English, French, Japanese, and Spanish, the 25H2 versions continue VMware’s commitment to secure, high-performance virtualization. The company has also expanded its Customer FAQ portal for community support and ongoing updates via the official VMware site.
